Monday Update

on my Five Little Monkeys

The oldest . . .

played in a basketball tournament in Atlanta this weekend

and this is who she had to guard in Saturday's game
just a little uneven Mimi's thinking!

but you played great, CJ

this one went in and so did the next one!

the next in line . . .

got braces

love the pink, AG!!
Mimi's so glad they are feeling better!!

and caught a fish while fishing with her daddy
Way to Go!!

the middle monkey . . .

was sick with strep

Poor Baby, Mimi's hoping you are feeling better and taking your medicine like a good little patient!

Monkey #4 .  .  .

played another soccer game this weekend
& took care of Mommy while Daddy and Sissy were away playing ball.

and the littlest Monkey . . .

is such a mess!!
(We should have been warned from these earlier pictures)

Quotes from Sweet Baby A:

While at the store this weekend with her Daddy:  "Why can't you just be a Mimi cause she always lets me get 2 things?"  He was letting them pick out one 'prize' each.  She already had hers but obviously felt the need for a second one.  And I guess I'm guilty as charged!

Then tonight while trying to get out of eating her pizza when the family was eating dinner out:  "I just heard God tell me . . . Adelynn, you feel like you should have dessert.  Then he died and fell off the cross and got back up."  This said as she looked straight at her daddy without so much as a grin.  The positive side . . . she is listening in her little Sunday School class.  Oh, the mind of a 3 year old, especially Baby A!

All in a Day's Work

Just a little yard piddling today because I realized last week when A and J were swinging that I never got around to fixing a place to 'rest' by the playground, so . . .

now I do.

Notice Miss Gigi is resting behind the left chair on the plowed ground where Granddaddy and I sowed grass seeds on Tuesday.  Just in time for the pictures.

But here's where she spent the afternoon while I worked.

Tommorrow's piddling . . . replacing some azaleas and adding pine straw to this bed.

Before I went in to fix supper, I discovered this beauty as I sat down on the rabbit bench.

One more chore checked off  the To Do List!

Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun

Not for Mimi exactly; but different parts of the family celebrated for 2 straight weeks . . .

guess that's what happens when spring breaks don't coincide.

Mimi started spring break (actually every day of spring is Mimi's break now, right?) on the Saturday before Palm Sunday watching CJ play in a softball tournament just up the road a piece.

Sorry this is so blurry, CJ but you can still tell your friend you had your picture made in front of her cousin.  Although Mimi didn't get to see the end of the tourney, Daddy kept me updated and it sounded like you played awesome with a team 1st place!!  Congratulations!

Saturday night, Mimi traveled south to help Mande with her MJ 'last release' clothing party before we started making our way to the sugar white sand.

From Monday to Friday, just building sand castles, playing in the ocean and the pool that was right beside our door, and eating in all the wonderful places from Rosemary to Grayton Beach.

and, of course, we spent just a little time in the precious shops of Seaside, Seacreast and Rosemary

always ending with a treat from the Sugar Shak
or

ICE CREAM!

then Week 2

found the P family in historic Charleston playing in the sun and sand.

swimming in the ocean and pool, riding bikes and even finding alligators!

Mimi can't wait to see all those pictures of ya'll in your bikinis.  When Mommy posts some, I'll borrow them for here, okay?

Now it's back to reality . . .
washing clothes, cleaning house, and the thing Mimi likes best, playing in the dirt!!

All the while dreaming of July and when all my babies will be under one roof on one white sandy beach together!
You've all grown just a little since the last time, don't you think?

Visitors

Tuesday we were blessed to have a little visitor to the Acre . . .

Sweet Baby A came up to spend the night.

She had to check out the flowers

and play a little golf because Granddaddy was off playing golf.

Then today . . .

Sweet Josie spent the day.

The most favorite thing to do was play on the "playground" but it's hard for Mimi to take pictures and push swings so hopefully ya'll can remember those fun times and also the cookie baking experience.

Of course, silly faces are a must!

Thanks for brightening Mimi's week, sweet girls!!

And . . .

This Mama Robin built her nest while Mimi was off to the beach last week.  I tried to tell her before I left that Granddaddy wouldn't like it if she built there.  Guess she wasn't afraid of him.  Adelynn said she was "wooking" at her with a mean face.  Mimi thinks it's a "stay away from my nest" face.  Either way, I'm amazed at how perfect the nest is ~ before I left there were just 3 little long twigs up there and you can still see 2 of them flapping in the wind.  Wish she wasn't so high up so we could see the eggs.  But it won't be long until we can hear those little chirps wanting food.

Hopefully, Mimi will get Spring Break pictures posted before the weekend is over.

Easter 2012

Mimi did make it back home in time for Sunrise Service and to cook Easter Lunch.

God's beautiful sunrise!

With the sun coming up as we sang "Christ the Lord is Risen Today," Mimi felt like she might have if I could have been present on Resurrection Sunday.

As usual, after Easter services, all the family gathered on the Acre for lunch and Easter egg hunts.  Except we were missing 4 very special members this Easter ~ the C girls and their Mommy and Daddy decided to leave early for the beach since the Cincinnati basketball tournament was cancelled.  But they did get to hunt Easter eggs and have their own private Easter morning service.

Love those glasses, Cybie!

Meanwhile back home in Georgia the day before, the A girls were hunting eggs . . .

with their friends . . .

after having Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the club.

A.N.D.
Guess what????

Cybie & Adelynn

found the GOLDEN Eggs!!!!!

Guess it was all that coaching from Granddaddy?

Between Sunrise Service and Sunday School, Mimi dashed home and hid the eggs so ya'll would be ready to hunt as soon as lunch was over.  But first, it was lunch on the deck for ya'll . . .

Yes, Will was a little late and ya'll were starved.

The hunt . . .

Poised to listen to the directions.

This year we changed the rules ~
each little hunted for only one color of eggs and there were 2 prize eggs.

Didn't Granddaddy's new grass make the perfect place to hunt the eggs?

Guess we won't be planting another garden this year.

The winners ~

And the big littles who thought they were too big to hunt eggs

Mimi's 3 Boys plus Sweet Jess

We sure missed the ones who were off playing with the Easter Bunny at the beach, Aunt Lynn who was celebrating her birthday with her family, and Lindsay.

Hope everyone had a very . . .

celebrating our Risen Savior!!

Just a Tad of Easter

In one short week, the Easter bunny will come hopping on the Acre and Mimi has just now gotten up a few decorations.  Boy, I've just been too busy celebrating birthdays, watching you monkeys, and playing in the dirt to do much decorating.

Seems Mimi has tons and tons of Christmas decorations with Easter decor running a close 2nd. But since half our family will be away this year, Mimi chose to just add a few signs of spring around.

Come on in and take a quick look . . .

Welcome to the Entry

That yummy candle is called "Sweet Tea" and is the most deliciously Southern scent!

Look, Mimi found the tassels I made 2 years ago . . . you know, the ones I looked high and low for last spring!  But the other one is still not hanging . . . guess he won't be this year again.
Just added 2 of my little bunnies and the banner from Mande's "Monogram Monkey" business 2 years ago.
Sorry about the glare.

Do you think we can get Mimi a new portrait this summer of all 5 of you?

One of the little Dollar Tree birds I painted with a homemade nest adorns a table in the living room.

The Monkey's little finger print egg tree
~ guess we'll skip that tradition for this year ~

Chocolate bunny guarding the oven

A new little duckie soap waits on ya'll in the "bug" bath

Keeping it simple on the table . . .

Just added my rabbit weathervane and the bunny napkins I embroidered when I first got my machine ~ didn't even change the placemats.  Hopefully, I'll spruce it up a little more before Easter lunch.  After the pollen leaves, Mr. Bunny will move out to the front porch.

Another bunny and nest ~ Mimi really got into the nest-making mode 2 years ago, didn't I?
See the cute little burlap "P" tag Mande 'crafted' me for my birthday?  Beth, you got one, too!!

Mimi found this cute little bunny idea on another blog but, you know Mimi, she hops around so from blog to blog, she just can't give credit where credit is due ~ maybe I'll find it again.  But the girl had taken a page from an old hymnal, cut out a bunny silhouette, and came up with this cute picture.  When I read her description, I remembered somewhere downstairs was an old hymnal that came from Gran and Pop's house . . . and there you have it.  But since I was making multiples, I just copied the page and left Gran's hymnal in tact.  You're welcome, girls!!

Back door friends are Best!

Mimi finally got around to stuffing moss in the bare spots on this cheap little wreath ~ you know it bugged me for years seeing that green foam down in there but not any more!

Don't you just love my large wooden carrot Ms. D gave me for my birthday!!  Yes, Mimi had to add her brown burlap ribbon to it!

Now for God's beautiful decoration . . .

The azaleas have been just beautiful this year.

If you look closely in the upper left corner, you might can see just a flash of white from the white azaleas.  For some reason, they are later this year.  Last year only the daffodils were blooming and the azaleas were the Mother's Day decorations . . . very warm early spring.

And, of course, Mimi had to pick some for my night stand . . .

and the island . .  .

Now, ya'll just enjoy this beauty til Mimi returns . . .

yes, this birthday girl is beach bound ~ toes in the sand and face in the sun!!
But I will be home just in time for Sunrise Service and the Easter Bunny!

Oh, Happy Days!!
