The Day After . . .

a Boo-ti-ful Halloween!

Where has Mimi been, you might ask?  Don't think I've been this long between posts in a while . . .

Well, I've been busy, of course!

 B.U.S.Y.

helping Miss Pam turn these

into this

B.U.S.Y.

making treats for the littles

you can't see them but the bag contained ghostly little s'mores

and treats for the bigs and friends

Aren't these little burlap pumpkins just precious?
Miss D graciously let me be a copycat ~ the big girls were so excited to receive them!

B.U.S.Y.

"Booing it at the Zoo" with an beautiful Indian Princess and a cute little SpongeBob Girl (wish I could type it like Cybie says it)

and, finally, B.U.S.Y.

attending a Spook-tacular Halloween party with a fabulous Wise Ole Owl, a beautiful Barbie Rainbow Fairy and a little Miss Minnie Mouse.

Poor little Minnie ~ her legs just weren't long enough to keep up with the big kids!

Of course, since the last post, Mimi threw in a few softball tournaments where CJ's team came in 1st and 2nd; a Character Parade where the Owl and the Fairy marched in perfect step with the band; a little babysitting; a trip to the doctor for his verdict and the dentist (ouch!!); a couple of dinner dates with friends; and even got Granddaddy to dig up and replant a few little shrubs under my supervision.

NOW, it's time for a brand new month ~ a month of Thanksgiving!

Most of you know by now that the doctor's verdict included surgery to remove Mimi's thyroid (or at least part of it) and more testing at 6-month intervals to watch the nodule in my lung.  Since the surgery is right in the middle of November, Mimi's already started working on her Thanksgiving Dinner treats and all those other traditions that are such a big part of our holiday celebrating.  I better hurry, too, because Mr. Tom Turkey will be gobbling around the acre before I blink twice!

Oh, and the jack-o-lanterns made way for the turkeys today but it's looking a little bare still.  Guess I better look back at last year's decorations to see what's missing.  And I even removed the role of toilet paper with it's little note that said, "You Better Be Home Next Year."  Now I wonder who could have left that on our front porch steps last night as their Trick since there were no Treats?  Anyone have an idea?   Hummmmmmm, could it have been Miss P???

Night, Night my little Turkeys!!

Sunday's Adventure

Yesterday, Sweet Baby A and her Mommy, along with 5 of her little friends and their Mommies, went to Disney on Ice.

Can't you just imagine all the giggles and squeals from those precious little princesses?

Mimi's so glad you got to go on a little journey since your older sisters and Mommy got to have their special trip to see Miss Taylor Swift earlier this month.

Now Mimi has to include this precious little conversation from Friday night . . .

At the picnic around the campfire by the lake on Friday night, the bigger kids was telling "stories," some spooky since Halloween is just around the corner and others not so spooky.  Not to be outdone, you wanted to tell a story, too.  Mommy said she could tell your were very serious and nervous because you wanted to get it just right.  You so wanted to be big, too.  Here's your story . . .

"Well, my Grandma, you know, my Mimi, she loves me very much.  She always gives me hugs and kisses.  And she taught me how to walk, too, cause my Mimi loves me."

Mimi's heart just melted when Mommy told me later Friday night.  Of all the things you could have said, you picked Mimi to talk about ~ how special is that for this Mimi!!

Y.E.S., sweet Baby A, Mimi does love you very, very much and how I love to give and get hugs and kisses, too!!  Here's some for you now . . .

XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Three Down . . .

two to go!

sewn and delivered just in time to be worn to the CC Halloween Party on Saturday night.

The only thing missing was Adelynn's tulle pumpkin on the front of her dress ~ Mimi didn't get it finished before she had to meet your Daddy and looks like Mommy decided to use AG's flower for her dress on it instead.  Maybe this week . . . after the other 2 are finished and delivered.

Be looking in the mail this week, CJ and CE ~ little surprises will be on their way!!

Did you notice the little "boo" banner in the background?  The Mommy made this one but it's like the ones the A girls and Mimi made for their teachers last weekend.

Got to get busy now so "Happy Boo" to you, girls!!

Fall Fun . . .

. . . while we're waiting . . .

We enjoyed Grandparents Day in the cafeteria with the A girls

then . . .

We celebrated Baby A's 3rd Birthday with a precious Vintage Butterfly Party!

Here's just a peek since Mommy hasn't posted her pictures yet.
Mimi was so excited because her "homemade" pinwheels really did spin with the wind!

then . . .

We did a little sightseeing while the C girls were in school during our babysitting week.  The leaves weren't yet turning but everything was decorated for fall.

Enjoying the beautiful fall decorations at Mimi's favorite place ~ The Christmas Place ~ except for that flag in the background, but the color is a fall color.

This is for you, Mommy and Mammaw!!

This cute crow is what Granddaddy needs for his garden.

Look!!  We even found Santa!

We got to attend a football game and help last year's beautiful Homecoming Queen, Cousin Lacee, crown her successor.  Boy, did it get cold in the mountains!

Weekends equal sports for the C girls . . .

Cybil's Soccer in the Morning

Campbell's Softball in the Afternoon and all day Sunday

We did it, girls!  Mimi and Granddaddy got you everywhere you needed to be and even got homework and aced a spelling test!   Plus we got to throw in a little eating out, crafts, shopping and yard work.  With your busy schedules, the week passed way too quickly.

Then . . .
The next week it was fall break and Apple Pickin' with the A girls

We petted some very cute little animals and a few big ones . . .

After buying fried apple pies, boiled peanuts and some golden delicious apples, we had
lunch in the quaint little town over the mountains where scarecrows lined the streets.

We even tried on a few Halloween faces.  And don't forget our acorn-picking trip in the golf cart at DCC ~ sorry Mimi forgot the camera for that one!  The beautiful green acorns you picked with Granddaddy at Mr. Wendell's now fill my candle holders.  How fun was the car show you went to with Granddaddy, even if you had to hurry home to watch those DAWGS; sorry Campbell and Mommy but I know Daddy and Cybil were pretty excited like we were on the Acre!  Mimi also forgot to take pictures of the cute little "boo" banners you made for your teachers.  Maybe Mommy will post those later.

Now, with much more Fall Fun on the horizon, Mimi is taking this week to enjoy the last flowers of the season

and do a little sewing.  Can you smell Mimi's gardenias?  Yumm, the house smells wonderful!  Mimi's holding tight to these verses this week . . . "My soul finds rest in God alone; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken."  Psalms 62:1-2

Hope everyone is having some Fall Fun of your own this week!

Love you to the moon and back, little monkeys!!!

Being Southern

Mimi borrowed this little "thing" from one of my facebook friends to share with ya'll . . .

"I'm fixin' to tell you about being Southern: Being Southern doesn't mean I'm not well educated. I may say 'ain't' and 'y'all' and 'honey'. I " bless a lot of hearts ♥ ". I might even 'piddle' around from time to time. I might refer to my grocery cart as a 'buggie' -- and by golly that's okay! If you're proud to be sweet, sassy, and Southern, go ahead and click like..'right smack dab' on this status ! Then you go over "yonder" to your profile page and paste it to your status... ♥"

Sounds a whole lot like your Mimi, don't you think?  My friend didn't say where it came from but I sure do love it 'cause there's no better place on earth!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Retired, Famous, and Rich

Oh, yes, that is SOOOOOO us right now . . .

* RETIRED *

Only thing is Granddaddy said he didn't bargain for this type of RETIREMENT.

words from a man who had just finished 18 holes of golf before starting this "little" project

Just in case my bigs are thinking, "Poor Daddy ~ Mama's To Do List now includes him" ~ Mimi hasn't handed over even one, no not one, "list" ~ and has not even asked him to do anything (yet!)  After all it's only been 2 months and besides, if I gave him a chore, I'd have to supervise and I'd rather . . .

enjoy my RETIREMENT time having extra coffee on the deck and fires on cool nights ~

guess that's why I got so much more accomplished when I worked . . . still have my lists but every new day seems to be filled with yesterday's plans.  Where are all the check marks?

 * AND NOW, how are we FAMOUS, you ask . . .????? *

We'll have to "thank" Granddaddy for that one . . . you see, he's officially qualified (the paper said it so it has to be true) to run for Mayor of our little town and guess what ~ ~ ~ no one else qualified . . . sooooo, come January Granddaddy will be sworn in as an "elected" official.  Now how's that for retirement?  And guess what that makes Mimi ~ the friendly folks all over town are calling me the "first lady" ~~ how's that for famous?  Some sweet neighbor even suggested I needed to get better "gardening" clothes for working out in the yard and I really needed a cute straw hat and a new convertible.  Well, I have some old straw hats and a few visors that I can't remember to take with me sooooo I'm thinking I'll just take the convertible but where would I put all the car seats?  If ya'll come driving up and don't recognize the gardener, rest assured it's just "Mimi the First Lady" in her new gardening wardrobe!  I'm sure the flowers will notice, don't you?

We're retired, true; probably will never really be that famous except in our own little niche of the woods (Mimi's just praying it's the good famous); but we're certainly RICH . . .

see?
the truly blessed way to be rich!

Besides anyone who is retired knows you can't use rich and retired in the same sentence about the same people, right? well, not in this family anyway!

But precious family, great friends and a Heavenly Father who daily blesses us much, much more than we deserve are the only things that truly matter, the only things that one can count as gain.

*     *     *     *     *

Seriously, we're loving that Granddaddy's RETIRED, too, so there's time to piddle around the house doing projects we claim to despise, time to both babysit at a moment's notice, time to travel (just not too far or for too long), and just time to get to know each other again 'cause like it or not, we've changed a little since marriage, babies, and work happened--yes, I'll say it . . . since we grew old.  I'll admit Mimi was a little worried about having someone else in the house ALL the time but it's been wonderful . . . so far anyway!!

we really are excited, I promise
I think Granddaddy was just a little afraid of Blackbeard!

*     *   *

Now the FAMOUS part is yet to be seen . . . ask me again next July.  But, if you try to call me and the number has been disconnected, you'll already know the answer.

*     *     *

The RICH part, oh yea!!
We're loving that part with our PRICELESS GRANDCHILDREN!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Won't be posting much since these retirees have a very busy 2 weeks planned but Mimi will be back soon with some fun memories for ya'll!!

Love you to the moon and back!!
